BIOGRAPHY
Phillip Solomon, General Manager, Tourcan Vacations
Responsibilities: Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company and all aspects relating to sales, marketing, training and development.
Years in the travel industry: 26 years
Time at Tourcan Vacations: 17 years
Education: BA degree in Sociology and History
Post Graduate: Teacher’s Diploma
Grew up in a small fishing village in South Africa, Mossel Bay. Attended the University of Cape Town and ended up Teaching history for two years before working for a Life Insurance Company in Public Relations. This introduced me to the world of travel as I had to find unique destinations for the top performers of the company. Their reward for good service and sales. I traveled with them to Hong Kong, Thailand, Israel, The UK, Brazil, etc.
I am great fan of tennis, but running is now my therapy with 10km’ being my favourite distance. Enjoy reading books with an historical background and, of course, I love to travel. I am still drawn to Africa – the African bush, the safari experience and getting close to the flora and fauna. Always feel rejuvenated after a visit to Africa!
I am fortunate that I am able to travel to our world of Exotic destinations (Africa & the Middle East, Asia, South & Central America and the South Pacific) and then conduct seminars and presentations at which I am able to share my experiences with those who are planning their vacation, sometimes, their vacation of a lifetime.
